TRUTH OR UNTRUTH?

If art has a mission, it is to narrate what the others do not perceive with the naked eye, those shades of truth that are hidden in unspoken or whispered words, or the reality of the illusion
or inconvenient truths. Aristotle wrote: ”the aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance”. Narration is a fundamental part of any artistic expression, which contains a thousand truths or no truths, or just a perception of what we are, of what we see, of what we are or want to be.

Manuel Canelles plays with different languages, challenges dramaturgy, radio language, visual arts in an emotional montage of
voices, different way of expressions that confront and dialogue, he stages what is defined as everyday reality, scans the streets of Barcelona, dives into the alleys of the city to meet people, interview them and talk. But what happens in the moment of meeting, recording and broadcasting translating all in an art installation? In these different moments, fragments of daily life, a question arises: where does the truth of thought lie?

What Manuel faces is a challenge, he is aware of it, leading him to dialogue in different cities, places other than Rome, Barcelona, Bolzano, with different staging, as a good playwright can do. The interdisciplinarity of languages decodes not only the truth that we think we know, but also the "untruth"; that we do not want to face.

We live in an era, where information flows like a river in flood, where manipulation has become the "truth" of many, which Manuel Canelles leads us to reflect on how every thought, action, word can become a piece of theater, between fiction and reality,
between truth and untruth. In the space of Espronceda in Barcelona, he went further, dialoguing both with the inhabitants of his project and the space, the audience, leading the viewer to further experimentation. Entering a room, alone, facing only a microphone and themselves, their voice and their truth. We live in a world of fictions and dramaturgy, and the On Stage project leads us into this emotional labyrinth, of truth and untruth, of staging, manipulation, but the truth is there is that of our encounter with ourselves of those words spoken and unspoken, of those moments of authenticity engraved in the memory of the inhabitant and of the place.

As Tolstoy defines: Art is a human activity, consisting in this, that

and fictional, where truth and untruth is placed and art becomes the filter of what we can no
longer see because perhaps life itself has become a fiction, a stage and vice versa. As Einstein
said: “The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.”
And what Manuel Canelles encouraged us to do.

REALTA' O FINZIONE?

Se l'arte ha una missione, è quella di narrare ciò che gli altri non percepiscono a occhio nudo, quelle sfumature di verità che si nascondono in parole non dette o
sussurrate, la realtà dell'illusione o verità scomode. Aristotele scriveva: Lo scopo dell'arte è quello di rappresentare non l'aspetto esteriore delle cose ma il loro significato interiore.” La narrazione è una parte fondamentale di ogni espressione artistica, che contiene mille verità o nessuna verità o solo una percezione di ciò che
siamo, di ciò che vediamo, di ciò che siamo o vogliamo essere.

Manuel Canelles gioca con diversi linguaggi, sfida la drammaturgia, il linguaggio radiofonico, le arti visive in un montaggio emotivo di voci, diversi modi di espressione che si confrontano e dialogano, mette in scena quella che viene definita la realtà quotidiana, scandaglia le strade di Barcellona, si immerge nei vicoli della città per incontrare le persone, intervistarle e parlare. Ma cosa succede nel momento dell'incontro, della registrazione e della trasmissione traducendo il tutto in un'installazione artistica? In questi diversi momenti, frammenti di vita quotidiana, sorge una domanda: dove sta la verità del pensiero?

Quella di Manuel è una sfida, ne è consapevole, che lo porta a dialogare in diverse città, luoghi diversi, da Roma, Barcellona, Bolzano, con diverse messe in scena, come sa fare un buon
drammaturgo. L'interdisciplinarità dei linguaggi decodifica non solo la "verità" che pensiamo di conoscere, ma anche la "verità" che non vogliamo affrontare.

Viviamo in un'epoca, dove l'informazione scorre come un fiume in piena, dove la manipolazione è diventata la "verità" di molti.

Manuel Canelles ci porta a riflettere sul fatto che ogni pensiero, azione, parola possano diventare un pezzo di teatro, tra finzione e realtà, tra verità e non verità. Nello spazio di Espronceda a Barcellona è andato oltre, dialogando sia con gli abitanti del suo progetto che con lo spazio, il pubblico, portando lo spettatore a ulteriori sperimentazioni. Entrando in una stanza, da soli, di fronte solo un microfono e loro stessi, la loro voce e la loro verità.
Viviamo in un mondo di finzioni e drammaturgia e il progetto On Stage ci conduce in questo labirinto emotivo, di verità e non verità, di messa in scena, di manipolazione, ma la verità è quella dell'incontro con noi stessi di quelle parole dette e non dette, di quei momenti di autenticità incisi nella memoria dell'abitante e del luogo.

Come definisce Tolstoj: L'arte è un'attività umana che consiste in questo, che una persona consapevolmente, attraverso certi segni esterni, trasmette agli altri i sentimenti che ha provato, e gli altri sono colpiti da questi sentimenti e li vivono in se stessi. Quindi siamo noi a definire ciò che è reale e ciò che è fittizio, dove si
colloca la verità e la falsità per cui l'arte diventa il filtro di ciò che non riusciamo più a vedere perché forse la vita stessa è diventata una finzione, un palcoscenico. E viceversa. Come disse Einstein: L'importante è non smettere di domandare. La
curiosità ha una sua ragione di esistere.”

E quello che Manuel Canelles ci ha incoraggiato a fare.
